In the midst of a mostly desultory column in which TEH COX compares the Leafs goaltending situation unfavourably with the Phoenix Coyotes, and closes with his standard '40 Years!!!' template, there is one golden line amidst the dross:
By the final weekend of the season in the biggest game against the Canadiens, Raycroft pretty much threw up all over himself and had to be yanked.
Last night I saw a Raycroft jersey for half-price at Winners. It was vomit-free, so I imagine it was not a game-worn item. But hey, team record for wins, right?

Just found your blog...and will admit you have beat me to it. (I was archiving the amount of time s during this year that Cox and Simmons used the 40 years since they won the cup) Love the concept. Well done. I look forward to reading your like minded views on the whores that are the TO sports media.

Not sure if you seen the other day (LEAFSTV) before the home opener when they were all asking about who was going to start...Berger almost started to cry...ya could hear it in his voice
He was all pissy as to why Maurice wouldn't tell him who would start...Berger brought up that Maurice did it every game while he coached the Hurricanes, to which Maurice said...uh no...was funny...and ya could tell Howie was so pissed...insulted for not getting the info he thinks he's entitled to. Then he went on hockey central and said what a bad idea he thought it was...ya a bad idea for a media whore looking for a story...for everyone else...not so much.
I guess my feeling is that in the countries (globes) largest hockey market (and I tend to read more on hockey than anything else) the whores (I use this term a lot cause they are there to sell papers not inform...RE Sundin needs career ending hip surgery) seldom give us any useful information...I feel insulted to be honest that these people are able to make a living.
The game plan is straight forward/simple/easy /boring etc.
By bashing the hometown team you get twice the readers than you would if you were a homer.
Bashing them gets the local fans in an uproar at the same time you are on the same page as those who hate the locals.
Negative advertising...every President/Prime Minister/Mayor is elected based on the same principle.
