Kettle on line one

Rosie DiManno appears to be just as upset as Damien Cox with the treatment that reporters are receiving in the Leafs locker room:

This is evidenced in the dressing room, as well, where young pros without the chops to support such haughtiness can be witheringly snide and condescending to reporters. Where they learn such attitudes is a mystery because they certainly aren't emulating the class of a Mats Sundin or Tomas Kaberle.

Elsewhere in this piece, DiManno refers to Kyle Wellwood as a "mook" (which, according to Wikipedia, is a contemptible, incompetent person), and derides the Leafs' coddling of younger players, telling Wellwood, Stajan, Steen and the rest that "times up, babies."

Now, I'm all for calling out the Leafs on their poor player development, and incompetence often describes the play of many players on this team...but, where Rosie DiManno learned such attitude is a mystery because she certainly isn't emulating the class of a Lou Marsh or Scott Young. Or Stephen Brunt. Or David Shoalts. Or Dave Feschuk. Or any of the many other columnists who seem to be able to express their opinions without childish name calling.

Totally agree. Didn't see that one coming from Rosie. Usually she's just making fun of Mr. Damien, but today she's stooped to his level. It's weak.

I loved the "time's up, babies" at the end of the column. BUSTED! Rosie's taking no prisoners! MLSE has had everyone fooled until now, but Rosie is throwing down the fucking gauntlet and MLSE will not survive!

I don't know what makes her think that time's up. The Leafs are long overdue for a comeuppance, but that ain't comin' anytime soon.

Is Dave Feschuk any good? I think his early Raptors coverage, when he seemed to think that anyone who received a cheque from the Raptors turned to shit, really put me off of him, but I've seen a few positive comments about him lately.

It's so cute that the people who spend 90% of their time slamming players and telling them how worthless they are get so upset when they don't get their asses kissed by them.

On a related note, I'd like to comend Rosie and Damien for having the courage to go down the stairs to find out where the Leaf dressing room was located. What's next, an actual honest to goodness real quote from one of these players they supposedly "talk to"?

Or even the class of Leafs blogs in not questioning her credentials since she is a. a woman or b. not a Leafs beat reporter.

How does she know anything about their attitude? From television interviews nothing of what she describes is present.

I laughed when she mentioned that in Boston and Montreal fans and the media eat their young whereas in soft cuddly Toronto everyone is loved unconditionally. Bryan McCabe wants to have a word with her.

As for whether we have been sold a bill of goods with Wellwood being a star she conveniently ignores that he was a point a game player last year for the first half of the year until he was hurt, that he never fully recovered from the operation before the season started, that he came in about 20 games behind everyone else, or that he outscored Spezza in junior who also was a healthy scratch frequently during his early years. Nope, we should all just give up on him.

It's a surprise that The Star still employs her. She comes out of the woodwork once in a while to write an article that can usually be described as ass backwards and then disappears into doing who knows what. She could be Cox in disguise.

More bashing of the centre of the bad sports writing universe please.

Paul,

Dave Feschuck seems to have become less of an obnoxious hack in recent months. He used to be among the direst of Raps doomsayers, regardless of how the team was doing, but he's now mellowed out into just an intermittent cock.
